Academy Chooses Visual Effects and Sound Editing Contenders
The competition for this year`s Oscars has been narrowed down - well, in at least two categories. The Academy announced on Wednesday the films being considered for two technical awards: Sound Editing and Visual Effects. Seven films were chosen in each category, and clip reels for each film will be shown to the appropriate nominating committees, with the members voting on the final nominees. For the Visual Effects award, three nominees will be chosen from the seven contenders. For the Sound Effects award, two or three nominees can be chosen, with a couple caveats. If only one film receives the required number of votes, it will be recommended for a Special Achievement Award; if no films receive the required votes, no award will be given. And without further ado, the contenders are:
