Smart vehicle is the new paradigm for cars. With the development of driverless vehicle technologies underway around the world, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) has succeeded in developing a completely autonomous car parking and summoning technology. Its principle is to download a parking lot map via an application from nearby the parking lot and then the car will valet park itself. Unlike the existing commercialized parking assistance system, drivers don't need to operate gearshifts, accelerators or brakes at all. Researchers expect this technology to be commercialized within the next five years. We will introduce the autonomous car parking technology, which will become the foundation of developing driverless cars.
