Major IT companies have picked SMAC as the ICT market's core key word in 2014. SMAC is a new jargon combining the first letter of social, mobile, (big data) analysis and cloud. Each of these words is also a hot issue in the ICT industry, but as data soars in line with popularization of mobile devices and social services, big data technology, which analyzes needed information in real time, is likely to be commercialized in full scale. In 2014, South Korea's medical industry in particular is slated to provide services such as predicting ventricular tachyarrhythmias by analyzing patients' data which had only been collected in the past, or reducing the waiting time for hospitalization, while raising the occupancy ratio of sickrooms by optimizing allocation of sickbeds depending on treatment features of illnesses. We will introduce the ICT trends in 2014 newly come under the spotlight.
